The new Mathematics Curriculum for 2014 forms the basis for teaching in Key Stage 3. Since September 2018 all pupils in Years 7 and 8 have been following a schemes of work adapted from ‘Kangaroo maths’, appropriate to ability sets, which follow the new National Curriculum. Our Aim

The aim of the Maths Department is to make learning a very positive and fun experience allowing pupils to develop the skills and depth of knowledge which will lead to an inbuilt confidence in their own mathematical ability.

Ability Sets

In Years 7 and 8 pupils continue to be taught in ability sets. The process of assessing and reviewing set position continues each term based upon a combination of topic based tests, termly assessments, classwork and homework.
